Each discipline is contested as a 1v1 duel. Athletes are paired by weight category. The team captain submits the pairing order before each match.
3 male athletes paired against opposing strongmen in matching weight categories.
2 female athletes — disciplines selected to suit women's competition standards.
8 regional franchises representing the states of India. Franchise owners purchase the team license from WSL and draft athletes through a bidding system based on WSM World Rankings. The champion holds the title "Son of the Soil — Strongman Team of India" until the next season.
